Indoor/Beach Volleyball Clinic Recap

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – This past weekend, LPU Indoor Volleyball and Beach Volleyball hosted their first clinic of 2021. It featured the unveiling and usage of our two new sand courts along with indoor training on Mehl Court. The weekend featured more than fifty 5th-12th graders who partook in the beach and indoor clinics.

On Friday, our LPU Beach Volleyball program started the clinics off with a two-hour training session on our sand courts with the 5th-8th grade group. The clinic focused on the fundamentals of how to play beach volleyball, ranging from hitting techniques to rallying. Shortly after the first session finished, our Indoor program started their clinic with the high school group. This session focused on breaking down all of the movements on the volleyball court and going into detail of how the girls can improve. This varied from showing the proper footwork on how to block, turning your shoulders to get a full swing, and ensuring that their is minimal spin when serving. A lot of the campers showed a lot of progress throughout the two-hour window and the group finished off with scrimmaging at the end of the day.

The next day, the two groups inverted their times which saw the high school group training on the sand courts in the morning, and the day finished with the 5th-8th grade group on Mehl Court. Director of Volleyball, Sean Douglas, recapped the weekend by stating, "This weekend was a huge success for the Warrior Volleyball programs! It was the first weekend we unveiled both of our brand new sand volleyball courts and they did not disappoint. We had 50 young athletes grace our campus over two days and the energy and excitement was felt all over campus. The weekend was also highlighted by one of our campers committing to our indoor program for 2022!"

Associate Head Coach, Mallory Douglas, also stated, "Our first clinics of the summer were amazing. We had so much fun coaching the athletes who came, along with being able to use the brand new sand courts! The highlight of the weekend was getting to teach beach volleyball to many who have never played before, along with having our first commit for the class of 2022. This is a great time to be a Warrior!"
