Warriors Secure First Win of Season, Outlasting Buccaneers 3-2
Mesa, AZ - The LPU Beach Volleyball team secured it's first win of the season on Friday afternoon, as they defeated Park University (AZ) 3-2. With the win, the Warriors move forward to 1-1 on the season. Thanks to stellar play from their 3's through 5's pairs, the Warriors were able to pull out the narrow victory. Kate Murray and Mackenzie Stewart have been a bright spot so far this season, displaying their chemistry on the sand, as this will be a pair to watch out for the rest of the season. Lindsey Johnson and Melissa Polich had the closest match out of all of the Warrior's on Friday afternoon, as they pulled off the 3's victory by a final score of 16-14 in the 3rd set. Peyton Ertle and Maxine Tennant secured the victory for LPU, as they were able to rally back from down 0-1, to win their match 2-1.
When asked to share his thoughts on their first victory of the season, Coach Wes Schneider stated, "All of our teams battled in some solid games. Melissa and Lindsey came back from 14-11 in the 3rd to win 16-14 off a serving run by Melissa. Kate and Mackenzie won in 2 and Peyton and Maxine dominated the 3rd set from start to finish, winning 15-4. The girls rallied around each other and overall found a solid game. We are looking forward to kicking off conference tomorrow."
