Warriors Capture First GSAC Victory with Balanced Team Effort
San Dimas, Calif. — Life Pacific Volleyball earned its first GSAC victory of the season on Thursday night, defeating La Sierra in four sets (22–25, 25–15, 25–23, 25–20) at Mehl Court. Behind a balanced attack and a gritty defensive showing, the Warriors improved to 4–4 overall, and 1–2 in the GSAC.
Jocelyn Hernandez spearheaded the offense with a match-high 17 kills on .367 hitting, continuing her role as a go-to scorer on the outside.
Setter Marlayina Masani nearly turned in a triple-double, finishing with 7 kills (.312), 23 assists, and 18 digs — just three kills shy of the rare feat. Her all-around performance gave the Warriors rhythm offensively and grit defensively.
Samantha Durant also made her mark, posting a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs, while adding 6 service aces to come within four of her own triple-double.
Defensively, Life Pacific showed its depth with five different Warriors recording double-digit digs:
-
Masani (18)
-
Kate Smith (15, also adding 9 kills)
-
Kelsey Gomarko (15)
- Durant (13)
-
Jadyn Armstrong (11)
Armstrong also dished out 15 assists and added an ace, while Smith chipped in a block and an ace to round out a strong night on both ends.
As a team, the Warriors tallied 51 kills, 85 digs, 9 aces, and 11 total blocks, wearing down the Golden Eagles after dropping the first set. With their first GSAC win secured, the Warriors look to build momentum as they continue conference play next week.
