Warriors Outlast First Place Arizona Christian in Five-Set Comeback Thriller
San Dimas, Calif. — The Life Pacific Women's Volleyball team delivered another spectacular performance on Friday night, storming back to defeat first place Arizona Christian University in a dramatic five-set battle (19–25, 25–21, 17–25, 25–22, 15–13) at Mehl Court.
The win marks completes the sweep of the weekend over 2 of the top 3 seeds in the GSAC and pushes the Warriors to 12–5 overall and 7–2 in GSAC play.
After dropping the third set and falling behind late in the fourth, the Warriors showed remarkable composure and grit, rallying behind key defensive stops and clutch serving to force a decisive fifth set.
Masani's Triple-Double Sets the Tone
Setter Marlayina Masani led the way with a triple-double, recording 10 kills, 14 assists, and 12 digs while hitting an impressive .381.
Masani's steady leadership and aggressive playmaking fueled the Warriors' offense throughout the night, especially in the pivotal fourth set where Life Pacific regained control of the match.
Hernandez and Durant Power the Offense
Jocelyn Hernandez once again paced the Warriors offensively, finishing with 11 kills and 2 blocks while providing key swings late in the fifth set.
On the outside, Samantha Durant added 9 kills and 3 digs off of the bench, providing consistent production in critical moments as the Warriors clawed their way back.
Defensive and Team Contributions
Kate Smith tallied 9 kills and 16 digs, while Kendal Collins added 6 kills, 9 digs, and a service ace.
Jadyn Armstrong orchestrated the offense with 18 assists and 16 digs, and Kelsey Gomarko anchored the defense with 14 digs from the back row.
At the net, Tionn Wise and Isabel Johnson combined for 6 total blocks, helping slow down Arizona Christian's front-row attack.
Caldera Sparks the Fifth-Set Comeback
With the Warriors trailing 12–8 in the decisive fifth set, Shalini Caldera stepped to the service line and delivered a game-changing six-point run, including back-to-back aces that shifted all momentum in favor of Life Pacific.
That run ignited the home crowd and propelled the Warriors to close out the set 15–13, sealing the stunning comeback and handing the Firestorm their second GSAC loss of the season.
