TICKET PUNCHED: Warriors Clinch GSAC Tournament Berth with Four-Set Win Over Benedictine Mesa

Mesa, Ariz. — The Life Pacific University women's volleyball team secured its spot in the GSAC postseason tournament with a thrilling 3–1 road victory over Benedictine Mesa (28–26, 18–25, 25–20, 25–18) on Friday evening. The win, powered by standout efforts on both sides of the net, marks a significant milestone in the first season under Head Coach Liz Salas, as the Warriors improved to 14–8 overall and 9–5 in GSAC play.

 

Junior outside hitter Kendal Collins led the charge once again, recording a match-high 13 kills to go along with 19 digs and a block assist for a stellar two-way performance. Marlayina Masani continued to orchestrate the offense efficiently with 21 assists, 11 digs, and 3 aces, while adding 7 kills of her own.

 

The Warriors' attack was balanced throughout the night — Jocelyn Hernandez and Samantha Durant each tallied 9 kills, while Isabel Johnson and Makala Detrick added 4 apiece. Johnson also led a strong defensive front with 4 block assists, helping LPU hold Benedictine Mesa to just a .144 hitting percentage.

 

After taking a back-and-forth first set 28–26, Life Pacific regrouped following a second-set loss and surged ahead in sets three and four with a combined .308 hitting percentage to close out the match. The Warriors' defense was equally crucial, totaling 67 digs and six team blocks while outscoring Benedictine Mesa in total points (64–67).

 

With the postseason berth now secured, Life Pacific will look to carry its momentum into the final stretch of GSAC regular season play.
