Seniors Lead the Way For Warriors In Victory

Azusa, CA - On Saturday evening, the Warriors hosted their final home match of the season, as they faced off against Arizona Christian University.  Prior to the start of the match, the Warriors honored their 4 Seniors: #1 Ezequiel Jimenez, #8 Savino Pinedo, #9 Benjamin Montes De Oca, and #10 Andy Garcia.

The Firestorm came out as the agressors early and scored the first goal of the match in the 19th minute, as Marlon Arce capitalized on a goal.  The Warriors responded though in the 31st minute as Benjamin Montes De Oca was able to capitalize on a blocked shot by Marco Mendoza.  Montes De Oca rebounded the ball in the box and put the shot in the back of the net, evening the score up at 1-1.  In the final minute of the first half, Ramiro Piza received a ball from Juan Rodriguez, and scored the second goal of the day for the Warriors, helping LPU take a 2-1 lead into the half.

In the 65th minute, the Warriors were fouled in the box, and Benjamin Montes De Oca scored his 2nd goal of the night on a PK, increasing the Warrior's lead to 3-1.  They were able to withstand a late push by the Firestorm, ultimately taking the match by a final score of 3-2, and secured their first GSAC win of the season.  Ezequiel Jimenez was excellent for the Warriors as he had 8 saves on the match with 10 shots that were put on goal.
