Warriors Improve to 2-0 in GSAC Play With Win Over Royals
San Dimas, CA – On the heels of a four set victory over Master's University on Friday night, the Warriors faced off against the Royals of Hope International University on Saturday afternoon. The Royals entered the match with a 4-7 overall record and were 0-1 in the GSAC play, following their loss against Vanguard University. The Warriors were able to withstand multiple runs from the Royals, and were able to take the first two sets. In the first set, the Warriors won 25-21 and then followed it up with a second set victory of 25-20. The Royals bounced back though and took the third set, despite LPU taking an early lead in the set. LPU came out in the fourth set though and put the match to rest, finishing the match with a final score of 25-19, and taking the match 3-1. With the win, the Warriors improve to 11-2 on the season and 2-0 in GSAC play.
On the offensive side of things, the Warriors were led by the reigning GSAC Player of the Year, Hannah Caddow, who finished with 22 total kills. Audrianna Guzman also had an impressive 12 kills, while Mackenzie Grooms and Mackenzie Stewart also contributed 10 kills and 9 kills respectively. Lindsey Johnson and Maddie Robertson were electric for the Warriors with their ability to contribute in multiple ways. Lindsey Johnson finished with 28 assists and 14 digs, while Maddie Robertson finished with 26 assists and 14 digs. Five different Warriors finished with double-digit digs. Allison Ayala led the way with 18 digs and 4 service aces, while Emma McMillan also finished with 17 digs.
