Warriors Split Tri-Match, Top Caltech Before Falling to Simpson

San Dimas, Calif. — Life Pacific Volleyball walked away with a split on Friday, defeating Caltech in four sets before dropping a tough three-set contest to Simpson University. The Warriors showed both offensive firepower and gritty defense across the two matches, moving their season record to 5–5 overall.

 


 

Match 1: Life Pacific 3, Caltech 1 (18-25, 25–17, 25–23, 25–18)

 

The Warriors opened the day with a convincing four-set win over Caltech, fueled by a balanced attack and scrappy back row play.

 

  • Samantha Durant delivered a team-high 15 kills to go with 11 digs and 5 aces, finishing with a match-best 20 points.

  • Jocelyn Hernandez added 14 kills and 3 block assists, contributing 15.5 points.

  • Kendal Collins provided consistency on the outside with 13 kills, 15 digs, and 2 aces.

  • Setter Jadyn Armstrong ran the offense with 21 assists, while Hailey Duncan chipped in 15 more.

  • Defensively, five different Warriors tallied 10+ digs, led by Kelsey Gomarko (18) and Collins (15).

 

As a team, LPU posted 58 kills, 78 digs, and 10 total blocks, wearing down Caltech in the late sets to secure the win.

 


Match 2: Simpson 3, Life Pacific 0 (25–22, 25–17, 25–20)

 

In the second match of the tri, the Warriors battled but fell in straight sets to Simpson, who capitalized on key runs down the stretch.

 

Despite the loss, the Warriors showed resilience, finishing with 32 kills and 30 digs, but Simpson's efficient attack proved too much to overcome.

 


 

Life Pacific (5–5) will return to action tomorrow afternoon at home, as they take on Occidental College at 3pm on Mehl Court.
