Warriors Edge Park-Gilbert in Five-Set Thriller

San Dimas, Calif. — Life Pacific Volleyball battled through five sets on Thursday night to secure a dramatic 3–2 victory over Park-Gilbert (25–17, 23–25, 19–25, 25–20, 16–14) at Mehl Court. The win lifts the Warriors to 7–5 overall and 2–2 in GSAC play.

 

Leading the way was reigning GSAC Attacker of the Week ,Jocelyn Hernandez, who continued her dominant attack with 18 kills on .324 hitting, adding a block and finishing with 19 total points. She delivered timely swings throughout the match, especially in the decisive fifth set.

 

Kate Smith powered the Warriors with a massive double-double, tallying 17 kills and 18 digs to go along with 5 service aces. Her all-around play provided a steadying presence from start to finish, and her serving run in the fifth set helped seal the match.

 

Off the bench, freshman outside hitter, Samantha Durant, made a major impact, posting 10 kills and 5 digs in just three sets of action, sparking the Warriors' comeback after trailing 2–1.

 

Setter Jadyn Armstrong orchestrated the attack with 30 assists, 6 digs, and a service ace, keeping the offense balanced in the five-set battle. Marlayina Masani added 19 assists and 13 digs, recording her own double-double.

 

Defensively, Life Pacific came up big with 69 total digs, led by Smith (18), Masani (13), and Kelsey Gomarko (13). At the net, Makala Detrick and Tionn Wise combined for 5 blocks, while Isabel Johnson added a solo stop.

 

As a team, the Warriors finished with 61 kills, 55 assists, 69 digs, 8 service aces, and 11 total blocks, grinding out the victory against a resilient Park-Gilbert squad.

 

The Warriors (7–5, 2–2 GSAC) continue GSAC play tomorrow evening when they host Benedictine Mesa on Mehl Court.
