San Dimas, Calif. — The Life Pacific women's soccer team kicked off the 2025 season in style, defeating Stanton University 4–1 on Saturday evening. The victory not only showcased the Warriors' relentless attack, but also marked the first win for new Head Coach Shane Shelton.
The Warriors set the tone with a pair of first-half goals, applying consistent pressure in the attacking third. Nancy Hinojosa opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing a pass from Brianna Figueroa. Just 14 minutes later, Figueroa added her second assist of the day by setting up Hannah Gonzales, giving Life Pacific a 2–0 lead heading into halftime.
After Stanton pulled one back early in the second half on a penalty kick, the Warriors quickly answered. In the 60th minute, Figueroa capitalized on a loose ball and buried an unassisted goal to restore the two-goal cushion. Hinojosa then sealed the victory in the 86th minute with her second goal of the match, capping off a dominant offensive showing.
The Warriors peppered the Stanton defense with 14 total shots, 10 on frame, forcing six saves from the Red Hawks' goalkeeper. Hinojosa finished with two goals on six shots, while Figueroa tallied a goal and two assists in a standout performance. Gonzales added her first goal of the season to round out the scoring.
Defensively, goalkeeper Valerie Lopez anchored the backline, recording three saves to earn the win.
With the win, Life Pacific (1–0) secures momentum to start the season. The Warriors will return to action next week when they travel to take on Caltech on Thursday, looking to build on their promising start.
