Warriors Blank OUAZ 2–0 Behind Lopez's 6th Shutout

Surprise, AZ — The Life Pacific University Women's Soccer team continued its strong late-season form with a commanding 2–0 victory over Ottawa University (AZ) on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the Warriors' second straight GSAC result and featured another standout defensive performance from goalkeeper Valerie Lopez, who earned her sixth shutout of the season.

The match opened with Life Pacific (7–7, 3–6 GSAC) on the front foot. Early efforts from Angela Scott nearly broke through as her 7th-minute header rattled off the crossbar. The Warriors' sustained pressure finally paid dividends in the second half when Alexa Monge calmly converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute—her first goal of the season—to put LPU ahead 1–0.

Just two minutes later, the Warriors doubled their advantage. Senior forward Brianna Figueroa continued her stellar campaign by netting her eighth goal of the year, finishing a ball from Calysta Escalera to make it 2–0. Figueroa's strike gave Life Pacific critical breathing room and capped a clinical offensive stretch.

From there, Lopez and the LPU back line locked things down. The senior keeper recorded three saves, including a diving stop in the 71st minute and several key interventions on OUAZ set pieces. Defensive anchors Stevie Spencer, Alexa Monge, and Lucy Bower helped preserve the clean sheet despite late pressure from the Spirit, who hit the crossbar in the 81st minute.

The victory moves Life Pacific to 7–7 overall and 3–6 in GSAC play, while OUAZ drops to 3–9–1 (2–6–1 GSAC). The Warriors will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup as postseason positioning tightens across the conference.
